One people, two nations:
Abanyole are variously referred to as Nyuli, Nyole Abanyole or Abanyuli. They speak Olunyole dialect of the Luhya. Their kinsmen are to found in Bunyore, Kenya. They number about 500,000 and live in south eastern Ugandan town of Tororo.

The Lunyole language has different dialects among them; Menya, (Lumenya), Hadyo (Luhadyo), Sabi (Lusabi), Wesa (Luwesa). Lunyole has 70% to 80% lexical similarity with LuSaamia, 82% with the Lugwe dialect of Saamia (closest), 67% with Ganda, 61% with Nyore of Kenya. Traveller's Tale: If you were to hike three miles up the steep hills of Tororo, Uganda you would see women breaking rocks by hand to sell as gravel—making a mere few dollars per ton. You might also meet women who would proudly show you their successful gardens, created as a result of organic agriculture training. They'd tell you that they are eager for literacy and business training, and that the young women are ready for a tailoring business. Back down in Tororo you would meet the amazing group of people who are determined to care for the widows, orphans, and the young people in their community. They need to improve their agricultural production, but lack proper irrigation. They lack accessible clean water, healthcare, and money for secondary school fees. More>>>
