Migratory History:
The people of Marachi Location are known to have come from Elgon area although other clans of the same group came from Egypt. They came in canoes on the River Nile as far as Juja, Uganda and later moved eastward into L. Victoria. They changed course until Asembo and separated with the Luo who walked along the lake shore but the rest crossed into South Nyanza.
They then turned northwards and reached Butere and then moved on to Luanda and to Ekhomo. The Luo were behind them right from Egypt. The Abaguri lived near the Lake at Ibanda in Busoga and migrated into Khaenderesi in south Iteso in Busia and afterwards into Sirabale in Bukhayo.
The clan of the Abafofoyo came from Bunyoro and moved into Buganda and crossed the Nile into Busoga and later moved into Bunyala close to the lake at Port Victoria. They then crossed the Nzoia River and went into the now North Ugenya and settled there. They spread out as far as Nzoia, the Sibo River and farther to Kholera river.
